HOW MEDICARE WORKS
Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities. It comprises four parts:

Part A: Covers hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health care.

Part B: Covers doctor's services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, durable medical equipment, and other items.

Part C: Also known as Medicare Advantage, this is an alternative to Original Medicare offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare.

Part D: Provides prescription drug coverage through private insurance companies approved by Medicare.Understanding these components is essential for selecting the coverage that best fits your healthcare needs.
WHAT MEDICARE PATH TO TAKE

1
Medicare Advantage
For people over 65, Medicare covers a large part of their healthcare costs. However, even with this coverage, there are still out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles, co-pays, and other costs. In the case of a major illness or injury, you might have to dip into your savings or retirement funds to cover these additional expenses.
To address this, about 90% of the 44 million Americans enrolled in Medicare opt for supplemental insurance, like Medigap or Medicare Advantage. These plans offer added coverage, reducing the financial burden of out-of-pocket costs. With the right supplemental plan, you can have peace of mind knowing that your healthcare expenses are more manageable.

Medicare Supplements
If you visit doctors or hospitals often, you’re likely aware that Medicare Part A and Part B come with certain out-of-pocket expenses. A Medicare Supplement insurance plan could help you lower these costs. Medigap plans are designed to cover the "gaps" in Medicare’s basic benefits, including expenses like deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.
Across 47 states, there are up to 10 standardized Medigap plans, labeled A through N (Plans E, H, I, and J are no longer offered). Insurance companies are not required to provide every plan, but they must offer at least Plan A.
It’s important to note that while Medicare's "parts" (like Part A and Part B) may sound similar, they are different from Medigap plans (such as Plan A or Plan B).
